This module covers the fundamentals of the built environment, focusing specifically on the local building sector. Topics covered include building components, building services commonly found in a building, basics of space planning and the Green Mark scheme that governs the environmental design and performance of buildings.

PROJECT BRIEF

To do a case study analysis of NUS SDE4 to find out the key green features and project highlights of the building. Describe ways to improve the lighting, water efficiency, greenery proposal, facade and sustainable materials.

LEARNING EXPERIENCE

- learnt how to use the PUB website and how to research on the different water fittings and how to to choose the best option for the needs of the building.

- learnt about plants and the many different types that can be used for a building and what characteristics they should possess to be most fitting for the building.
